Lemon-Tomato Hand Conditioner
2 tbsp. freshly strained lemon juice
2 tbsp. freshly strained tomato juice
2 tbsp. glycerine
2 pinches benzoic acid powder
Mix juices and glycerine together
thoroughly, then stir in benzoic acid. Pour into a bottle and shake
well. Refrigerate.
Dry-Skin Night Body Oil
1 tbsp. sesame oil
1 tbsp. safflower oil
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. light mineral oil
3 drops oil of bitter almonds
Combine ingredients in a tightly
lidded bottle and shake vigorously. Smooth onto your skin a little at
a time. Bathe (or shower) in the morning.
Chapped-Skin Camphor Cream
1 cake (1 oz) paraffin
1 oz white beeswax
3/4 cup white petroleum jelly
1 1/2 oz. powdered gum camphor
Grate paraffin and beeswax.
Heat with the petroleum jelly in double boiler over a gentle flame.
When mixture begins to liquefy, stir in powdered camphor and continue stirring
briskly until everything is melted and well blended. Remove cream from
heat. Let cool and put into jars.
Toning Vinegar-Herb Bath
2 tbsp. dried thyme
2 tbsp. dried rosemary
2 tbsp. dried majoram
2 tbsp. dried mint
2 cups cider vinegar
Add vinegar to two cups of water
and heat to near boiling. Remove from heat. Add herbs and let
them steep overnight. Strain liquid through double cheesecloth or a
nylon stocking. Store in a tightly lidded jar. Pour into your
bath water - about one cup of lovely liquid per bath.
Effervescent Bath Salts
1/2 cup baking soda
5 tsp. fine cornstarch
1 tbsp. pine needle oil
6 tbsp. citric acid powder
Mix baking soda and cornstarch well.
Stir in oil, a little at a time, blending well before adding more.
Stir in citric acid. Store in tightly closed jar in a dry area. (Must
be stored in a moisture free area or it will lose its effervescence).
Add salts to your bath after you've gotten into the water.
Refreshing Salt-Starch Bath
1/2 cup Epsom salts
1/2 cup fine cornstarch
1/4 cup table salt
Pour salts and starch under tub
faucet and fill to bath level. Add a few drops of cologne. Swish
with hand to blend. Relax!
