A woman's hair is her crowning glory.
Attractive, shiny, well groomed locks always draw admiring gazes from both
men and women.
The secret to beautiful hair
involves a number of factors. Nutrition, natural elements (sun, humidity,
water hardness), brushing, combing, washing and drying procedures all play
a role in the health and condition of your hair. With the following
recipe ideas, you'll be able to give your hair a quick pick-me-up between
regular salon appointments for a fraction of the cost and a miniscule amount
of the time.

for tonics, conditioners, rinses and other aids to promote tresses that radiate
a silky and sleek wholesomeness!
Dry-Hair Conditioner
1/3 ripe avocado, peeled
1/3 cup mayonnaise
Mash avocado thoroughly. Mix
and blend well with mayonnaise. Massage the mixture into your scalp
and work throughout your hair. Cover with a plastic shower cap and leave
in for 40 to 60 minutes. Rinse out. Shampoo as usual.
Dandruff Remover
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water
Shake ingredients in a bottle.
Use an absorbent cotton pad to dab the solution directly onto your scalp.
Apply two or three times a week and always before shampooing.
Dry-Hair Mayonnaise Treatment
2 tbsp. mayonnaise or mayonnaise-type
salad dressing
Gently massage mayonnaise throughout
your hair and scalp. Leave for 30 to 35 minutes, then rinse out.
Shampoo well. This treatment can be used as often as you wish.
Dry-Hair Oil Treatment
2 tbsp. refined odorless castor
oil
1 tbsp. soybean oil
Before starting this treatment,
open the pores of your scalp by steaming with towels that have been wrung
out in hot water. Warm and blend the oils over a low flame. Gently
massage the mixture into your scalp and spread throughout your hair.
Pay special attention to dried-out ends. Wrap your head in hot steaming
towels for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo thoroughly.
Egg Shampoo-Conditioner
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. baby oil
1 cup cool water
Beat the yolk to a froth.
Add the oil and beat again. Stir into the water. Massage gently
into your scalp and spread through your hair. Rinse well.
Oily-Hair Cleanser & Conditioner

1/4 cup fine cornmeal
1/4 cup ground orris root
Mix the ingredients. Pour
into a large salt (or similar) shaker. Sprinkle onto your scalp and
throughout your hair. Brush out thoroughly. Note: If
orris root isn't available, or if you run out, you can use cornmeal alone.
Oily-Hair Cleanser & Conditioner

2 egg whites
pinch of borax
Add borax to egg whites and beat
until stiff. Apply to your scalp and hair with a nail brush or an old
toothbrush. Allow to dry. Brush out vigorously and thoroughly.
Extra Sheen Rinse (Blondes)
2 tbsp. camomile
2 cups water
Steep the camomile in fast-boiling
water for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Strain through muslin or
a nylon stocking. Use the liquid as a final rinse.
Extra Sheen Rinse (Brunettes)
2 tsp. dried rosemary
2 cups water
Steep the rosemary in boiling water
for 10 minutes. Cool. strain, as above, and use the rosemary liquid
as a final rinse.
