After-Bath (or Shower) Toner
Cream
8 tbsp. lanolin
2 tbsp. tannic acid powder
5 1/2 tbsp. apricot kernel oil
3 drops oil of bitter almonds
Combine all the ingredints and heat
in a double boiler. Stir well to blend. When mixture is melted
and blended, remove from heat and beat briskly until cool and smooth.
Put into jars. Smooth onto your skin immediately after bath or shower.
Do not rub.
After-Bath (or Shower) Body
Lotion
1/2 tsp. fine menthol crystals
1/2 tbsp. glycerine
1/2 cup alcohol (70% strength)
1/4 tsp. oil of lavender*
1/2 cup boric acid solution
Mix first four ingredients together
and transfer into a jar. Shake vigorously. Add boric acid solution
and shake again. Pour into a vinegar cruet or any bottle with a loose
top. Keep in a cool place.
Sweet Setting Curl Lotion
1/2 cup warm water
6 tsp. superfine sugar
Mix ingredients well. While
warm, use to set hard-to-hold end curls and ringlets.
Lemon Rinse
1/2 cup cup strained lemon juice
1 cup distilled water
Shake ingredients in a bottle and
comb thoroughly through hair after shampooing.
Body-Building Setter
1 egg white
1 cup beer
Let beer stand an hour. Beat
egg until foamy. Add beer and beat for a minute. Set hair
.
Dry-Hair Vitamin Tonic
2 tbsp. refined linseed oil
2 cups water
1 vitamin A capsule
1 vitamin E capsule
Slowly add the linseed oil to simmering
water. Stir continuously to disperse. Puncture the vitamin capsules
and squeeze the contents into the oil and water. Stir until all ingredients
are well distributed. Cool the mixture until it's comfortable to the
touch, but still hot. Apply throughout your hair. Cover with a
shower cap and leave for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse well and shampoo as
usual.
