Facial Masks
Masking is the oldest of all the
beauty arts, and for a good reason, too. The top layer of skin cells
is continually being replaced, but normal epidermal functions can be slowed
down by an accumulation of dead cells. Regular use of a facial mask
removes these potential trouble makers. It makes your pores appear smaller,
and stimulates the circulation of blood to your face by bringing oxygen and
other essential nutrients to the skin. When used twice a week, and
as part of an established health regime, a facial mask can give your complexion
a beautiful glow.
Easy Directions For Masking
1) Tie your hair back to keep
it out of the way.
2) Cleanse your face thoroughly.
3) Apply the mask with light
upward strokes to your throat and face. Do Not apply to eyelids
or the extra sensitive area under your eyes.
4) Relax. Pamper yourself
while the mask is working - lie down or take a nice bubble bath.
5) Remove the mask as directed.
Make sure you get it all off.
Don't be hesitant to try masking.
It may not be pretty going on, but it sure feels and looks great when you're
done.
Honey Softening Mask
1 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. sour cream
cornstarch
Mix the honey and sour cream and
add enough starch to make a thin paste. Pat the mixture on with your
fingertips. After 15-20 minutes wash the mask off with a warm washcloth.
Rinse your face with cool water.
Blackhead Remover Mask
1/2 cup fuller's earth
1 tsp. tincture of benzoin
distilled witch hazel
Make an easy-to-spread paste by
adding just enough witch hazel to fuller's earth. Add benzoin and stir
thoroughly. Open your facial pores by steaming with a cloth wrung out
with hot water. Let mask dry and harden - about 30-40 minutes.
To remove, dip cloth in water as hot as you can stand and place on mask for
a few seconds; then wipe off with a gentle rubbing motion. Rinse with
warm water. Then with cool water.
Note: This mask takes
about an hour and talking will be impossible. So you may prefer to ignore
your doorbell and put on your answering machine.
