Soothing Herb Bath Bag

2 tbsp. dried rosemary
1 tbsp. dried sweet basil

Wrap herbs in a muslin or double cheesecloth bag.  Drop into water hotter than you intend to use in your bath.  When the water cools to a comfortable temperature, swirl vigorously from one end of the tub to the other.  Note: An herb bag will last for at least two baths.

Almond-Oatmeal Washing Bag

1 small cake castile soap.
1 3/4 cup ground oatmeal*
2 tbsp. almond meal*
2 tbsp. ground orris root

Grate soap, combine and mix well with other ingredients.  Put into a double cheesecloth bag.  Use in place of soap and a washcloth.

*Refer pages 2 and 5.

Dry-Skin Oatmeal Bath Bag

1/2 cup ground oatmeal
1/2 cup powdered milk
your favourite cologne

Wrap oatmeal and powdered milk in a cheesecloth or muslin bag.  Drop into water hotter than you intend to use.  When the water cools to a comfortable temperature, squeeze the bag two or three times, swishing it back and forth in the tub.  Add a few drops of cologne.  Swish with your hand to blend.

* see cosmetic meals page 2.

Moisturizing Body Lotion

10 tbsp. (5 oz.) distilled water
1/2 tsp. powdered tragacanth
6 tbsp. alcohol (70% strength)
2 tbsp. your own moisturizing cream
scant drop green food colouring
3 drops of your own perfume

Pour distilled water into a shallow bowl and sprinkle tragacanth powder over the surface, as evenly as possible.  Let sit overnight (or for a few hours) until the powder settles to the bottom of the bowl and acquires a gummy consistency.  Stir the water and tragacanth thoroughly to make a gelatin-like mixture.  Add alcohol, moisturizing cream, and food colouring.  Beat and mix well, then stir in perfume.  Pour the lotion into a wide-mouthed bottle.

Dry-Skin Milk Bath

1 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup table salt
4 tbsp. wheat germ oil
your favourite cologne

Mix milk, salt and oil into a paste and add to a quarter-filled tub of water.  Swish vigorously with hand to disperse.  Add a few drops of cologne and blend by swishing.  Bring water to bathing level.

Dry-Skin Buttermilk Bath

Follow the recipe for "Dry-Skin Milk Bath," above; instead of powdered milk, use one cup of whole, fresh buttermilk.

Avocado Bath Oil

1 tbsp ground oatmeal*
1 tbsp. avocado oil
your favourite cologne

Make a thick paste with the oatmeal and oil in a small cup or bowl.  Hold it under the tub faucet so that the water disperses the paste into the tub.  Turn off water when level is right for bathing.  Add a few drops of cologne.  Swish with your hand to blend.  Enjoy!

*See "Cosmetic Meals"

Moisturizing Mint Bath

2 1/2 tbsp. glycerine
2 tsp. pure peppermint extract

Add both to your bath water and swish with your hand to blend.
